GutXain, the Valencian app for shopping and to promote local commerce

In recent years, the local retail sector has undergone a major transformation brought about by the arrival of new competitors and e-commerce. First came the category killers and now the great revolution has come about with the dizzying growth of online sales, led by the American giant Amazon. A digitalisation that has been accelerated with the outbreak of the pandemic and which has led small establishments to have to adapt in order to survive. But it is not always easy. A lot of ignorance and few resources in some cases to make the leap to this new reality. And several are falling by the wayside.

In order to make it easier for small businesses to digitise and make their value visible, six Valencian entrepreneurs launched GutXain a month ago, an application to redefine local shopping in the neighbourhoods of Valencia. "We realised a year ago that with the pandemic many historic businesses were closing because they had no alternatives to compete on equal terms with the big platforms. That's why we decided to launch an app to make shopping easier," explains Lorena García, CMO of GutXain.
